Petits Salons Presents: Electra

On Monday, June 9th, Petits Salons showcased ELECTRA.

Doors opened at 7:00pm for drinks and live orchestral music from the film’s composer Ali Helnwein.

At 8:00pm we moved to the fire deck for the screening of Electra directed by Hala Matar and written by Hala Matar, Daryl Wein, and Paul Sado.

In Electra, a journalist and his companion travel to interview a musician in Rome where a generous invite to a country estate becomes something much more than anyone expected. The film stars Maria Bakalova, Abigail Cowen, Jack Farthing, and Daryl Wein.

Electra was nominated for best feature at Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Oldenburg Film Festival, Dallas International Film Festival, and Ischia Film Festival, and was the winner of best production design at Ischia Film Festival.

**This screening included a special appearance and Q&A by Hala Matar and Daryl Wein.

Previously at Petits Salons

On Monday, April 21st, Petits Salons screened the 80s cult-classic Heathers. Doors opened at 7pm in The Wiggle Room for live music by PAIGE STARK. At 8pm we moved to the fire deck for our film screening of Heathers, followed by a Q&A with screenwriter Dan Waters.

Veronica (Winona Ryder) is part of the most popular clique at her high school, but she disapproves of the other girls' cruel behavior. When Veronica and her new boyfriend, J.D. (Christian Slater), confront clique leader Heather Chandler (Kim Walker) and accidentally poison her, they make it appear a suicide. Soon Veronica realizes that J.D. is intentionally killing students he does not like. She races to stop J.D. while also clashing with the clique's new leader, Heather Duke (Shannen Doherty).

On Monday, May 26th, Petits Salons screened select short films from Not Film Festival as a part of their NOT OFF summer tour. Doors opened at 7 PM for live music from Zora Urbanyi in The Wiggle Room, who was accompanied by a tango performance from Renata. At 8 PM, we moved to the fire deck for the screenings, celebrating The Hideaway by Jane Stephens Rosenthal Cooke, The Long Step by Mike Sandoval, Waiting on Roxy by Chad Philip Peter, Poachers by Tiffany Lin, Vuja De by Travers Jacobs and Viktor Ivanov, and Good Condition by Frank Mosley.

NÒT OFF will feature screenings of selected short films by filmmakers who have participated in an NFF previous edition. With appointments in Los Angeles, New York and London, they will showcase the talent of their filmmakers and connect with the local community. Petits Salons was their first stop.

Petit Salons is a collaboration between James, Darby, and Sarah in partnership with Cheshire Moon Productions, BLKBRD Films, and Petit Hermitage — a space for artists, filmmakers, investors, and friends to connect. Each evening begins with live music inspired by the film and closes with a Q&A designed to spark meaningful conversations and encourage fellow filmmakers to follow their creative instincts despite the challenges.
