Women in Film’s FRAME HER VISION panel at the Venice International Film Festival

Cheshire Moon Productions is a proud supporter of Women in Film’s FRAME HER VISION presenting their sixth annual salon at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, against the backdrop of Isola Edipo.

At a time when questions of authorship, representation, and perspective continue to shape the future of cinema, this year's conversation asks a fundamental question: Who gets to frame the story?

Who has the agency to shape narratives, whose perspectives are brought to the forefront, and who ultimately determines how stories are seen, understood, and remembered?

Bringing together an exceptional group of filmmakers, curators, cultural leaders, and creative voices, the panel explores the power of storytelling and the perspectives that shape the cinematic landscape. Five years since Cannes, Fribourg, and Venice signed their charters, this panel brings together an exceptional group of filmmakers, curators, cultural leaders, and creative voices. Our organizers Magaajyia Silberfield and Winta Ghebre and moderator and co-founder Rhamatou Keita, an exceptional group of filmmakers, curators, cultural leaders, and creative voices came together to ask what has truly changed, and what remains only written. But more than an accounting, this is a search for new ideas, new solutions, for the inequalities women still face in this industry.

I was honored to speak at last year’s panel, Reframing the Lens: How Can Women Transform Global Filmmaking?

What struck me most was not only the brilliance of each artist and storyteller on stage, but the undeniable truth that cinema changes when women are given space to speak, to create, and to lead.

Every story shared from a woman's perspective expands the lens through which we see the world - and the more room we make for these perspectives, the richer and more human our cultural narratives become.

The impact of women championing women cannot be overstated. When we lift one another, we shift industries. When we hold space for each other's voices, we transform what is possible in art and in society.
