Sarah Carter is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, and mentor devoted to creative sovereignty, beauty, and emotional truth.
From Winnipeg to Hollywood.
Born in Winnipeg and classically trained in theatre, dance, and fine arts, she moved to Los Angeles at 19 and quickly rose to prominence with a string of starring roles in television (Shark, Falling Skies, Rogue) and blockbuster films (Final Destination, The Vow). Known for her magnetic performances, she has carried over 200 episodes of television and worked with visionary creators like Steven Spielberg, Judd Apatow, and Spike Lee.
But it is behind the camera—and in the community—where Sarah’s deepest mission lives.
Behind the Camera.
In 2022, she made her feature directorial debut with In Her Name, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and won the People’s Choice Audience Award. The film, which went on to receive over 50 festival awards and distribution, established her as a rising voice in independent cinema and a fierce advocate for storytelling as spiritual reclamation.
Sarah is the founder of Cheshire Moon Productions, where she writes, directs, and produces films that center beauty, shadow, and the sacred feminine. Her work spans fiction, documentary, music, and visual poetry—all inspired by her fascination with transformation through art.
Music, Mentorship & Mission.
A lifelong musician and former frontwoman of the band SanguinDrake, Sarah channels her punk rock roots and poetic instinct through original music and live performance. She is also the creator of Petits Salons, a rooftop film and music salon series celebrating the miracle of independent cinema and community.
As a mentor and guide, Sarah is trained in Core Energetics and holds teaching status in archetypal story analysis with Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés. She supports artists in reclaiming their instinct, voice, and leadership through mentorship, workshops, and sacred storytelling. Her work is deeply shaped by the loss of her younger brother to addiction—a wound that now fuels her purpose.
Through every film, lyric, gathering, and session, Sarah invites others into their own creative authority. Her mission is clear: to make beauty from truth, and help others do the same.
“Sarah holds a space for total authenticity. She helps pull out your highest self and gives you tools to shake off old patterns and be fully present. You walk away feeling truly connected to source and ready to share your voice.”
